A medium sized manufacturing facility in Bedfordshire is now seeking an experienced Import Coordinator to oversee the customs clearance of goods and to ensure compliance with HMRC regulations. You will oversee the daily management of customs regimes (e.g. IPR) which will include regular and accurate reporting to HMRC as required.
Along with liaising with various departments internally, you will also be the contact for HMRC representatives for compliance checks including the control and limitation of exposure to duty & VAT liability, external customs brokers, shipping agents and fright carriers.
Responsibilities
Digest and interpret complex regulatory requirements and the completion and submittal of HMRC duty and VAT Returns, including the calculation of duty, VAT and compensatory interest owing to HMRC
Liaising with HMRC compliance officers, to ensure the successful renewal of IPR status as appropriate and undertaking HMRC compliance audits as required
Ensure accurate, appropriate clearance instructions and tariff headings are issued for all goods imported on behalf of the organisation
Minimum background
Practical knowledge of UK Customs importing regulations / regimes such as: IPR, OPR and CFSP. Knowledge and understanding of E2, C88 (SAD) and related documentation
A good general understanding of general logistics processes and procedures
Proficient in excel and word software packages
Educated to A level standard with a qualification in freight forwarding, customs procedures or international trade preferred
