I am currently seeking an experienced Technical Manager to work for a Food Manufacturing facility based in Lancashire.
Reporting directly to the Site Manager your main responsibility is to manage the in house Technical team to ensure that all food safety, quality, customer and internal standards are met and that all products that are produced are of the legal standards in the market into which they are sold.
Main Responsibilities: -
• Manage and deliver product food safety, quality, and legality, ensuring that products are made to specification and is right first time and to act as site champion for food safety and quality.
• Manage all customer and BRC audits to ensure excellent results
• Manage and maintain a good relationship with key customers and oversee management of customer specifications
• Monitor and manage customer complaints for the site ensuring that the site targets are met or exceeded. Serious complaints to be investigated and reported
• Ensure that the HACCP systems and site quality systems are managed and aligned and that the systems are suitably audited so that they meet customer, legal and BRC/AIB standards
• To manage the technical team on site and ensure the team is developed so that it can add value to the organisation
• To support training programmes on site covering food safety and quality
• Work closely with the production, engineering and hygiene teams to ensure site compliance with food safety and quality systems and compliance with all customer and internal requirements too
• To oversee the management of the site testing programmes and daily batch tasting and ensure the programmes meet minimum legal and quality standards and that costs are managed and controlled, ensuring product consistency is managed and maintained at all times
• To support the supplier audit programmes
• To ensure health and safety of your immediate team
Minimum background
• A degree or equivalent in Food Science / Food Technology
• Minimum of 4 years experience managing a technical team in the food industry
• Excellent understanding of food safety and food quality
• HACCP qualification and Food Hygiene certificate
• Experience of food technical audit.
• Working knowledge of new product development (NPD)
• Working knowledge of EU / UK food regulations
