Your
C.V. and Application Form is the "Key to the door". Once you receive
your invitation to interview, the door is unlocked and you now have
the opportunity to convince the employer of your suitability. This
next stage also requires careful preparation, and you should take
advice from your iNTECH Recruitment Advisor, as he/she will be able
to provide background information on the employer and other detail,
i.e. location, accessibility etc.
|
|
|
PREPARATION
should consist of:
|
|
|
RESEARCH
- find out as much as you can about the Company and its' Products.
The Company may produce its' own literature. Information can be
also found through Public Libraries, Local Chambers of Commerce
and increasingly through the Internet. - Find relevant areas for
discussion pertinent to your application.
|
| |
|
YOUR
C.V. - Familiarise yourself with and make sure you are able
to provide adequate answers to everything you have raised in your
C.V. Have a valid and positive reason for all your career moves
and obviously for this next move.
|
| |
JOB
DESCRIPTION - Make sure you fully understand the requirements
and how your experience to date will fit the Job on offer. Think
about how you could enhance the employer's current situation.
|
| |
|
TIMING
- Always allow yourself plenty of time to arrive for the interview.
If at the employer's premises, waiting rooms often provide much
information on the Employers latest activities and products.
|
|
|
|
PRESENTATION
- Show respect to the employer and dress formally and smartly, you
need to create your best impression. It is perfectly true that first
impressions do count, and recent surveys show that many interviewers
have made their decision within the first five minutes
|
| |
| CONDUCT
Ensure a firm handshake and smile on first meeting and maintain a
high level of eye contact throughout. Be alert and enthusiastic, it
is often the candidate who has shown the most interest that will be
succesful. . |
| |
|
QUESTIONS
- When answering questions, you must show confidence, be factual
and stick to the point. Make sure your answers replicate the information
shown on your C.V. and Application Form. - Always remember this
is a sales visit, and you are the commodity, so use every opportunity
to expand on your abilities and experience and don't be shy about
your achievements, but never embellish them as you will be found
out. - The interviewer will expect you to ask questions and will
often give you an opportunity towards the end of the interview.
Do
ask about career progression, training opportunities and the Company's
future plans. Clarify any details of the Job if you are still unsure.
- At this stage it is best to avoid any discussion regarding terms
and conditions and salary - unless brought up by the interviewer.
If the interviewer opens up a discussion on salary, then it is best
to indicate a range, rather than a specific salary, so that your
options remain open for negotiation at a future stage.
|
| |
|
AFTER THE INTERVIEW - The prospective employer will normally
advise iNTECH Recruitment of the result of your interview. iNTECH
Recruitment will then help you finalise the procedure and obtain
the best possible package. If you have been unsuccessful in the
interview, your iNTECH Advisor will obtain relevant information
to assist you with feedback in order that at your next Job interview
you can amend your interview approach.
The
above information is not intended to be comprehensive, but does
provide you with an insight when considering making a career change.
Whilst the process can be challenging and time consuming, we are
available to assist and guide you. Before making that career move,
why not contact us for advice regarding opportunities and for a
