A leading company within is now seeking an experienced person to manage one of their Electrical laboratories that test and certify electrical products for major manufacturers.

You will manage a team of 15 technicians and have a real focus on workload, the quality of the testing ensuring procedures are followed correctly, calibration and maintenance of test equipment ect.

Job Description:

The main responsibilities of this role are:

* Managing the Electrical/Electronic testing laboratory with responsibility for health and safety, technical quality and profitability delivering growth within the business
* Management of test programmes, conducting detailed technical reviews ensuring customers are kept up to date on project status
* Scheduling work flow and resources to deliver on customer expectations ensuring an efficient and effective service
* Verifying test programmes, technical evaluation files and quotations ensuring technical rigour for all projects
* Report on performance monthly measured against financial targets and defined timescales
* Regular meetings with customers from international locations
* Liaison with internal departments, customers, trade bodies, approval agencies and accreditation bodies
* Representation of the business at various trade shows, exhibitions, seminars, standards and directive committees meetings
* Health and safety of all laboratory staff and visitors to the laboratory
* Ensuring that all test equipment and facilities are calibrated and appropriately maintained
* Maintaining UKAS accreditation for all testing services

The successful candidate should have the following essential skills and knowledge:

* A relevant electronic qualification or equivalent
* Experience of product testing or evaluation work
* The ability to build and maintain good customer relations
* Experience of project management

Other desirable skills, knowledge and experience might include:

* A good understanding of the certification/approvals process
* Experience of certification or quality management processes
* Experience of project management
