Product Engineer - Medical Devices

Summary: This is a broad role that works across the design of both the medical devices and the accompanying packaging and you would be joining a small but established team of 5 reporting into the Director.

Description: Product Engineer - Medical Devices
£30,000 to £40,000 DOE + pension and lunchtime Friday finish
Based in Somerset

The company have enjoyed excellent year on year growth for the past 5 years and have exciting and ambitious plans to expand the product portfolio and move into new international markets.

This is a broad role that works across the design of both the medical devices and the accompanying packaging and you would be joining a small but established team of 5 reporting into the Director.

You will need good project management skills, preferably with medical devices to manage the introduction of new products and processes. It will require you to liaise with various suppliers and the production department internally, prepare drawings (or at least get them from suppliers), purchasing specifications, product specifications, packaging etc. etc. plus prepare documentation for CE application.

This organisation isn't necessarily after mechanical engineering experience, hence the title 'Product Engineer'. It could just as easily have a title of 'Development Engineer'. Key skill will be to coordinate across functions to ensure on time project delivery. Their products are primarily made of plastic.

As an individual you could come from food, pharmaceutical or medical devices background. They are a medium sized company; so you will need to be prepared to turn your hand to anything project wise.

Experience within the Medical Device industry is of course extremely desirable however experience within a regulated and safety critical type manufacturing environment is a must.

Supporting New Product Introduction processes you will: -

*Plan, execute and document design verification and validation
*Transfer of the design plan documentation to relevant internal parties for approval
*Creation of outsourced product and materials specifications
*Managing necessary approvals and supporting data
*Organise & perform product testing and validation processes
*Product Development and Standardisation control processes
*Performing product change control validation activities

You will need at least 2 years experience in a similar role within Plastics development to be considered.
