Summary: Professional experienced buyer required for a international organisation based in the Northe east.
Reporting to the VP Global Category Purchasing, key challenges and areas of responsibility will include:
Procurement of iron castings and steel
Project purchasing - cost reduction (Total Cost Comparison)/growth programmes
Supplier performance/relationship management (UK/Europe)
Contract/price negotiation - Securing long term supply agreements
New supplier sourcing/benchmarking and onboarding (including subcontract)
Identifying opportunities for VAVE, cost optimisation, vendor rationalisation (QCD)
Close liaison with the Knorr-Bremse Global Category Purchasing Team
Global travel to visit Knorr-Bremse/GT Suppliers (40-50%)
The ideal candidate will have:
Commodity procurement experience of Iron Castings essential and familiarity with automated disamatic/investment castings
At least 3 years' experience from previously working in an automotive or engineering purchasing/supply chain background
A business, technical or engineering degree, or equivalent time-served experience with a good understanding of materials
Knowledge of SAP, SRM systems and Microsoft Office
Project management skills
Experience of managing international suppliers coupled with excellent negotiation/intercultural skills
Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills enabling you to work effectively within an international team
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Self-sufficient and ambitious, able to multitask, prioritise and work efficiently
Willingness to travel widely throughout the world to visit suppliers for GT and Knorr-Bremse for about 40%-50% of your time
