Description: Production Planner
£26,500 - £31,000 DOE

Based on Northamptonshire

*Are you an experienced Production Planner?

*Are you interested in joining a large process driven manufacturer in Northamptonshire?

The main purpose of this role will be to manage the planning processes across their site in Northamptonshire. You will ensure that the production plans are optimised to meet customer demands and manufacturing efficiency within the agreed business parameters.

You will also provide medium and long term demand and supply data for Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP).

This role is working within a department of 6 people (5 Production Planners) reporting in to the Planning Manager.

Main Responsibilities: -

*Using the site's ERP (M3) system, generate and schedule optimised weekly production plans to support both safety stock and firm customer demand. Utilise firm and forecasted demand to drive raw material requirements
*Where required, plan secondary manufactured raw materials with the relevant manufacturing plants ensuring all raw materials are available
*Post MRP, liaise with the Purchasing Team to ensure raw material deliveries are aligned to the scheduled production plans, setting priorities if required and escalating any issues as required
*To be the supply-chain link between the Customer Service, Manufacturing and Purchasing Teams to manage production constraints, e.g. exception customer demands, capacity availability, equipment breakdowns, raw material availability, etc, through evaluating all options and prioritising customers and / or items as required
*Attend the daily and weekly Production Meetings in order to monitor progress against the production plan and proactively manage actual or potential delays with the Customer Service Team to minimise impact on customer service levels
*To be responsible for the regular review and maintenance of the planning parameters within the ERP (M3) system, e.g. MOQs, planning rates, lead times, safety stock levels, etc, to ensure the system is aligned to current capabilities and that inventory levels are aligned to customer service requirements and business expectations
*Maintain the Schedule and Volume Adherence KPIs for the production plant
*To liaise closely with the Commercial Business, Sales and Product Management Teams, as well as all other business functions, to improve systems and processes and ensure the provision of a consistently efficient, effective and high quality service to customers
*To perform any other tasks reasonably requested to meet individual, team and / or business objectives
*Manage the required manufacturing slots with the sub-contractors within agreed lead times and raise the required Purchase Orders to confirm
*Generate and schedule the required production plans for the raw materials required by the sub-contractors. Raise the required Distribution Orders to despatch the raw materials to the sub-contractors and ensure CoAs are available where required
*Receive from the sub-contractors against the raised Purchase Order(s). Manage the required QC testing for the received product and record the test data
*Periodically review old stocks at the sub-contractor, liaise with QC to determine appropriate actions to reduce through either blending or writing off
*Monitor sub-contractors' performance, identify areas for improvement and implement the required corrective actions

Background to be considered: -

*Experienced with Production Planning in a commercial Manufacturing environment
*Industries considered include: Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Polymer, Resins, Food, Adhesives, Distillery, Toiletries, Cosmetics etc
*Proficiency in Microsoft Excel as well as an ERP system (ideally M3 or SAP)
*Experience of demand or Supply Planning and S&OP
*Balancing the requirements of the business functions across the supply-chain in order to achieve customer service targets at the optimal cost
*Understand supply-chain systems, processes and the interfaces between different supply chain functions
*Strong negotiation skills, self-motivated and dynamic with your approach with practical problem solving skills
*Complying with all appropriate company, HSE and legislative requirements
*Strong teamwork ethic and the ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own
*Communicate effectively with people at all levels and manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner
*Time management skills, a methodical approach to work with excellent attention to detail, excellent analytical and reporting skills and be able to confidently process complex technical information
*Worked in cross-functional business teams
*Strong commercial awareness and technical competency
*If you have worked in a Pharmaceutical or Chemical manufacturing environment, then this would give you a distinct advantage I think
