Description: Production Manager
Our client a manufacturer if hand held electro-mechanical instruments are now seeking an experienced production manager who has an excellent understanding for the assembly of electro-mechanical devices, Box build assembly and electronic packaging.
You will be an excellent communicator able to motivate a small team of 8 to 10 assemblers getting the best from them. A problem solver, Strategic planner for day to day and future production planning in additional to keeping on top of general activities including the liaisons with purchasing for stock management, Sales, Design etc.
*Management and organisation of staff to successfully and efficiently deliver orders to customers on time (new products, established products and accessories and product repairs)
*Maintenance of the final assembly and test facility, ensuring all equipment is properly managed, maintained and procured as may be necessary for the smooth running of the department
*Planning, coordination and control of all manufacturing and production processes and activities to assure process and product quality in accordance with company QMS
*Cross functional leadership of support function representatives (purchasing, material management, quality, customer service) to drive forward improvements in customer service, reduce internal lead times and improve production throughput
*5 years minimum experience in production/operations management
*Background in electronic manufacturing
*Relevant qualification, (e.g. BTEC, Engineering degree, apprenticeship etc.) related to electronic product manufacture, assembly and test processes
*Experience working within an ISO accredited manufacturing environment or equivalent
*Familiarity and understanding of handling and techniques for low volume high complexity assembly of electronic products, electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions and hand-soldering skills
*Experience and understanding of typical stock flows and associated system processes from supplier goods receipt, to product delivery to customer, throughout a high manufacturing environment
*Good working knowledge of MS Excel for reporting and work-planning
*Working knowledge of specification, work instruction and procedure development
*Strong working knowledge of typical production assembly and test processes
*Experience managing assembly and test production with high levels of outsourced manufacture
*Experience in production planning
*Experience of managing electronic product fault finding and repair activities
This is an interesting role you would expect when working for an SME. You will be reporting to the Operations Director enabling quick decisions and giving you the opportunity to maximise efficiencies within your role when needing key decisions towards achieving departmental goals.
Ideal candidates will be from an electro-mechanical assembly background as a production manager ideally for an SME where there is involvement with other departments in relation to this role such as purchasing, test, design, sales etc.
